Child & Adolescent Counselling

Childhood and adolescence can be challenging. Big emotions, stress, and life changes often show up in ways that are confusing for both children and parents. I provide a calm, supportive space where children and teens feel safe, respected, and never rushed.
I work with children and adolescents ages 5 and up, offering therapy that is developmentally appropriate, relationship-based, and tailored to each young person’s unique needs.
My Approach
The foundation of my work is building trust and safety. Many children and teens (especially those who are anxious, neurodivergent, or have experienced stress or trauma) are not ready to talk about their feelings right away. Therapy begins by creating a sense of connection and comfort, rather than pressing children to share before they’re ready.
What to Expect in a Session
Sessions are guided by your child’s age, interests, and comfort level. For younger children especially, I incorporate play and art-based approaches to help them express themselves naturally.
A session may include:
-
Play, games, or imaginative activities
-
Drawing, painting, or creative expression
-
Gentle conversation woven into activities
-
Tools to support emotional regulation and calming
Play and art give children a way to communicate emotions and experiences that can be hard to put into words, while also helping them feel more relaxed and engaged in the process.
Areas I Support
I work with children and adolescents experiencing:
-
Emotional regulation challenges (big emotions, meltdowns, anger, shutdowns)
-
Anxiety, worry, and overwhelm
-
Neurodivergence (including ADHD, autism, sensory sensitivities, and highly sensitive kids)
-
Trauma and adverse experiences
-
Grief, loss, and major life transitions
-
Low self-esteem and confidence
-
Social challenges, peer relationships, and school stress
Working With Parents
Parents and caregivers are an important part of the therapeutic process. I involve parents through consultations, regular check-ins, and collaborative support, helping you better understand your child’s needs and how to support them at home.
